Palenciana![]()
Palenciana must its name to its founders, who were old palentinos of the time of reconquers that they were dedicated to the cutting of oaks to make coal by century XIII.
It is located to the south of the province of Cordova, between llanos of Antequera and the Cordovan Subbética, next to the Genil river. To get to Palenciana you arrived from El Tejar from nacional highway 331 and Antequera by provincial highway.
History

Monuments
Parochial church of San Miguel.
Located in the seat of the Virgin of the Carmen it finished being constructed in 1774. Latin cross church, of beautiful interior with elegant proportions and gallonada cupola is a rich sample of the baroque Andalusian who welcomes beautiful policromadas images.
The greater altar is presided over by an imposing baroque altarpiece that lodges several images between which it emphasizes the one of his holder San Miguel Arcángel. Contiguous to this two altar camerines are rich decorated that is dedicated to the Virgin of the Carmen and the Virgin of Araceli.

Celebrations
The Candlemas is celebrated the 2 of February with bonfires in diverse streets of the locality.
In Easter images of Cristos and Vi'rgenes are procesionan from Wednesday Santo to the Domingo de Resurreccio'n, emphasizing, by their impressive silence, the procession of Santo Entierro de Christ. One imagines by local actors the Passages of Passion. At dawn of the Good Friday they are sung "You announce Them". The Roman century with its Band of Bugles and Drums accompanies the most important steps, adorned with suit of the Real Guard of century XIX.
The first Sunday of May Cruces of May is celebrated , distributed by all the streets of the town.
In the middle of May festeja the Romería of San Isidro .
The most characteristic celebration is the Fair . Their closeer acts are "to throw the Chinese" and the procession of the Pattern, the Virgin of the Carmen, finalizing with the "revoleo" of the flag.
The 4 of December the Day of Palenciana is celebrated in which the segregation is commemorated.
